The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech plans to inaugurate at Agròpolis the first fully monitored agrivoltaic facility for comprehensive horticultural crop monitoring. This infrastructure has been developed and co-funded as part of the European SYMBIOSYST. project.

In this project, we are evaluating how combining solar energy and agricultural production can improve crop sustainability, efficiency and profitability. This facility, one of the project's three pilot sites at European level, will make it possible to analyse the impact of agrivoltaics on the quality and productivity of horticultural crops under real-world conditions.

The project's aim is to optimise land use by co-locating smart horticulture and solar energy generation on the same land area. Photovoltaic structures not only produce clean energy but also provide physical protection against adverse weather events, helping to make agriculture more competitive.

The event is aimed at representatives of the production sector, companies, entrepreneurs, public administrations and research centres.
