Who the project is aimed at

Companies in the agri-food and construction sectors seeking sustainable solutions for Mediterranean cities.

Project objective

To assess and validate an eco-innovative concept that improves the sustainability of urban buildings by integrating rooftop greenhouses for the production of high-quality food, optimising the use of resources such as energy, water and CO₂, and contributing to the development of Smart Cities.

Project description

The project proposes integrating greenhouses on the rooftops of urban buildings to produce food sustainably, reducing energy consumption and the environmental impact of Mediterranean cities. Led by the UPC, the project combines tools such as life cycle assessment, energy simulations and sustainability models to evaluate the feasibility of this innovative solution. It aims to improve resource efficiency, reuse waste heat and wastewater, and contribute to greener and more resilient urban planning.
