Who is the project aimed at

Companies and professionals in the agri-food sector, particularly those involved in intensive agricultural production, who are seeking innovative technological solutions to optimise crop irrigation and fertilisation based on efficiency and sustainability criteria. It is also aimed at research centres and organisations committed to green innovation and the responsible management of natural resources.

Project objective

To develop the ModpoW AgriTechnologies 2.0 platform, a technological evolution of the original smart irrigation and fertilisation tool. The new version incorporates advances in modelling, machine learning and automation to further improve the efficient use of water and fertilisers, promoting more sustainable and technology-driven agriculture.

Project description

Founded in Barcelona in 2010, ModpoW is a company specialising in solutions based on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), with a strong commitment to sustainability. Between 2011 and 2015, the company led the development of Smart Growth System, a wireless sensor network for professional crops, in collaboration with IRTA. This solution helped improve irrigation processes, reducing water consumption by 30%, and received the Technological Innovation Award at the 2015 Lleida Agricultural Fair under the ModpoW AgriTechnologies brand.

Now, with the support of funding from the Nuclis Green programme by ACCIÓ, ModpoW and inLab FIB are driving the development of version 2.0 of the system. This new phase focuses on an intelligent platform capable of integrating environmental and agronomic data to automate irrigation and fertigation decision-making, incorporating advanced modelling techniques and artificial intelligence to optimise resources and agricultural performance.
