Project: TOPPS. System to prevent surface water pollution from diffuse sources.
Web:
Target audience
Farmers and plant protection product applicators
Project objective
Promote good agricultural practices to prevent water pollution caused by the application of plant protection products.
Project description
A practical and efficient system has been established to prevent surface water pollution from diffuse sources through spray drift, erosion and runoff.
- Drift. The amount of plant protection product transported outside the spraying (treated) area by air currents during application. It can be significantly reduced through the use of appropriate measures.
- Runoff. One of the possible pathways through which plant protection products enter watercourses (approximately 35% of the total). It can be significantly reduced by implementing Good Practices.
Project funded by the European Crop Protection Association.
