Who is the project aimed at

The Catalan agricultural sector, particularly farms seeking to improve their economic performance and adopt innovative technologies to modernise farming. It is also aimed at stakeholders in the agri-food sector, agricultural engineering firms and institutions involved in rural development, as well as research and technological innovation centres interested in robotics applied to agriculture.

Project objective

To transfer an innovative mobile robotic technology, known as MOBY, to the agricultural sector, where it has already been validated in the industrial sector. This technology improves the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural tasks through an autonomous, electric, all-terrain robotic prototype that can be integrated with other applications. It is designed for uses such as cargo transport, crop inspection and monitoring, and pest detection, among others.

Project description

As part of the agricultural robotics sector, which is still emerging in our region, the project aims to provide an innovative solution based on autonomous mobility that can adapt to agricultural environments.

The project involves developing a robotic prototype measuring approximately 110 x 110 x 40 cm, with omnidirectional capabilities and suitable for agricultural terrain. The vehicle is initially intended for logistics and harvest transport in indoor horticulture and vineyards. Its traction, outdoor navigation, ability to withstand difficult terrain and adaptability are being tested, along with its integration with other digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

The expected results include improved energy efficiency, reduced food waste, less dependence on polluting tractors, and overall optimisation of agricultural processes. This will contribute to more sustainable, digitalised and market-oriented agriculture, with the potential to profoundly transform the current production system.
