Who is the project aimed at?

The meat processing industry, particularly companies with production plants seeking to reduce water consumption and improve their environmental sustainability. It is also relevant to technology centres and innovation stakeholders in the agri-food sector.

Project objective

To develop innovative technological solutions based on artificial intelligence and digital twins to monitor, optimise and reduce water consumption in meat processing plants.

Project description

The Hydroless project is coordinated by Clúster FoodService and driven by the companies Friselva and bonÀrea (Corporació Alimentària Guissona), with the participation of the UPC's inLab FIB technology centre. Its challenge is to address growing pressure on water resources and contribute to the environmental sustainability of the meat processing sector.

The project focuses on two distinct lines of action:

  1. At bonÀrea's production plant in Guissona, a solution will be developed to monitor and optimise water consumption throughout the production process.

  2. At Friselva's facilities in Riudellots de la Selva, a digital twin of the plant will be designed and implemented. This twin will make it possible to analyse and evaluate redesign alternatives that facilitate the recirculation of water used in the different processing rooms, with the ultimate aim of optimising overall water use.

This project represents a step forward in the digital and ecological transformation of the Catalan agri-food sector.
