Who the project is aimed at

Food industry: Food-producing companies, particularly those seeking more sustainable alternatives for their packaging and interested in harnessing the benefits of probiotics to improve consumer health.

Packaging and packaging materials manufacturers: Companies involved in the manufacture of plastics and films for food packaging, especially those interested in developing innovative materials incorporating probiotic functions.

Project objective

To develop innovative packaging films incorporating live probiotic bacteria to improve food preservation and provide additional health benefits for consumers. These films will act as active packaging materials that not only protect the contents but also contribute to consumers' intestinal well-being through the controlled release of probiotics.

Through the use of biopolymers and other natural materials, the project aims to create edible or biodegradable packaging capable of maintaining the viability of probiotic bacteria throughout storage, improving food safety and contributing to the sustainability of the food industry.

Project description

The aim is to develop biodegradable packaging films incorporating probiotic bacteria to improve food preservation and provide benefits for consumers' intestinal health. These films will be made from natural and renewable materials, offering a sustainable solution. In addition to extending the shelf life of food, they will also contribute to digestive health through the controlled release of probiotics.
