Jun 01, 2020 02:00 PM to May 29, 2023 03:00 PM (Europe/Madrid / UTC200)

Research group: Agricultural Mechanization Unit (UMA)
Project: PIVOS. Smart spraying for sustainable vineyards and olive groves.
Target audience
The agricultural sector, particularly vineyard and olive grove growers, as well as companies and professionals involved in plant protection product application who seek to improve sustainability and efficiency in crop management.
Project objective
To demonstrate the benefits of smart spraying of plant protection products for more sustainable pesticide use in vineyards and olive groves, while maintaining biological efficacy and reducing both economic costs and environmental impact.
Project description
The PIVOS project addresses the need to improve plant protection product application in high-value crops such as vineyards and olive groves, where the adoption of new technologies has so far been limited. The project will develop a new intelligent spraying management system, including vegetation characterisation using airborne and ground-based sensors, the creation of prescription maps for application volume and air volume, and the automatic adjustment of the quantities of product applied. The results will be validated through field trials, and the agronomic, economic and environmental benefits will be quantified.
Project funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
