Who is the project aimed at?

Food sector companies that want to improve communication with their customers regarding nutritional and environmental aspects, the consumer experience and commercial relationships. It is also intended for technology providers and organisations working on innovation in the food sector.

Project objective

To analyse the needs of the food sector in four key areas — nutrition, the environment, immersive experiences and customer relationships — and propose a technology platform that addresses these challenges, improving communication between companies and their customers through innovative digital technologies.

Project description

The study is structured around four main challenges:

  • Nutritional challenge: improving communication of product nutritional information and allergen details.

  • Environmental challenge: providing information on the environmental impact of products, such as their carbon footprint.

  • Immersive experience challenge: delivering immersive multimedia content, such as 360° videos, to showcase the manufacturing process or product values.

  • Customer relationship challenge: establishing two-way communication channels to improve customer relationships and loyalty.

The project included an analysis of the needs of participating companies and the technologies available to address these challenges, culminating in a proposal for an integrated platform that tackles all these aspects.

The project is coordinated by the Foodservice Cluster and involves the companies Frit Ravich and Casa Ametller as case studies from the sector. The challenges have been addressed by different specialised technology providers: Alimentium (nutrition), inèdit (environment), Eurecat (immersive experience) and inLab FIB – UPC, which, in addition to leading the customer relationship challenge, has proposed the overall platform to integrate all the solutions developed.
