Who the project is aimed at
A wide range of stakeholders in the agri-food sector: farmers, cooperatives, technology companies, public administrations and research centres. All these stakeholders will benefit from a common, interoperable data system that facilitates decision-making and fosters collaboration across sectors.
Project objective
To create an interoperable agricultural information standard aimed at developing advanced services based on Artificial Intelligence. This standard will enable efficient and secure data sharing, fostering innovation, sustainability and competitiveness in the agri-food system.
Project description
Agrixels is an initiative by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) aimed at creating an agri-food data ecosystem based on an interoperable standard called agríxel. This standard enables the integration of data from different sources —such as farms, climate information systems, field sensors and institutional data— and makes them available to different stakeholders in the sector through a shared and secure space.
By using advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Agrixels promotes services that improve decision-making and foster efficiency, sustainability and innovation in the agri-food system. The project is initially being implemented in two use cases:
-
The climate and environmental sustainability of farms.
-
Environmental impact analysis, with a particular focus on the carbon footprint.
Agrixels promotes a collaborative public-private governance model aimed at facilitating responsible data sharing and strengthening the sector's competitiveness. It also seeks to establish the agríxel standard as a national and international benchmark for the digital transformation of the agri-food sector.
